The Programme

Study across three European universities

BIOVERTE takes you on a journey through three European regions and three complementary academic environments. During the first year, you will study at all three partner universities, gaining a broad perspective on biodiversity and ecosystem resilience

ONE PROGRAMME. THREE UNIVERSITIES. THREE EUROPEAN REGIONS.

🇱🇹 Semester 1 – Lithuania

Vytautas Magnus University (VMU)

Begin your BIOVERTE journey in Lithuania, exploring fundamental concepts in ecology, biodiversity and environmental change. Lectures, seminars, laboratory classes and field activities will provide a strong scientific foundation and introduce you to the Baltic region’s environmental challenges.

🇮🇹 Semester 2 – Italy

University of Trieste (UniTS)

Continue your studies in Trieste, where you will develop more advanced knowledge and explore biodiversity and ecosystem resilience from Mediterranean and coastal perspectives. Practical learning, field activities and the BIOVERTE Summer School, involving external experts, will strengthen your professional and intercultural experience.

🇵🇱 Semester 3 – Poland

University of Silesia in Katowice (USiL)

The third semester takes you to Poland and the Upper Silesian region, where you will apply your knowledge to real-world environmental challenges, including urban, industrial and post-industrial ecosystems. You will deepen your expertise through advanced and applied courses, practical activities and interdisciplinary work.

🎓 Semester 4 – Master’s thesis

The final semester is dedicated to your Master’s thesis, carried out under joint supervision involving the BIOVERTE partner universities and, where appropriate, external stakeholders.

Throughout the programme, you will combine compulsory and elective courses, allowing you to build a strong interdisciplinary foundation while developing your own academic and professional interests.

Three countries. Three universities. Three environmental perspectives. One integrated learning journey.

What will you study?

BIOVERTE combines ecological science, environmental management, data analysis, economics, social sciences and practical approaches to biodiversity conservation and ecosystem resilience. The curriculum progresses from fundamental concepts to advanced, hands-on applications.
